The government claims that from January to September 2025, the number of employed workers in Indonesia has reached nearly 2 million people. This achievement reflects concrete efforts to boost employment absorption during the first nine months of the year.
The increase in employment absorption aligns with reported investment realizations up to September 2025, which have created around 1.95 million jobs across various projects throughout Indonesia. However, challenges remain, particularly in ensuring that the available jobs are quality formal positions capable of sustainably accommodating new workers.
Although the data shows positive results, several observers note that issues such as unemployment rates, the availability of formal jobs, and labor market transformation still require major attention. Therefore, concrete actions are needed to ensure that the growth in employment numbers is also reflected in improved job quality and stability across Indonesia.
