Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, confirmed that the announcement of the 2026 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) will be made on November 21, 2025, in accordance with the applicable procedure.
The exact amount of the minimum wage increase for next year is still uncertain, as the figure is still under review with the National Wage Council (Depenas), involving the government, labor unions, and employers.
Yassierli emphasized that it is too early to state the percentage of the increase, as the formula to be used—whether the old version or a new one—is still being discussed intensively.
Meanwhile, labor unions have proposed an increase ranging from 8.5% to 10.5%. However, the government has not committed to this figure and is still evaluating factors such as purchasing power, inflation, and a balance for employers.
On the other hand, some parties have indicated the possibility of a more moderate increase. For instance, reports suggest that employers and the government are considering an increase of just 3%, which workers consider inadequate to match the rising cost of living. As a result, the public is still awaiting the final decision in November to see how much the minimum wage increase will be implemented in each province.
